Sea Glass of Sanibel
A Partnership with Nature…
“We named our eco-friendly community Sea Glass because it suggests something very unique and beautiful, created by a partnership with nature and resulting in surprise and delight upon discovery.”

An Eco-Friendly Community…
A new concept and new community are taking shape on Sanibel Island – a tropical treasure located on Florida’s southwest coast alongside the crystal blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
The12-acre sustainable eco-friendly community Sea Glass of Sanibel is a collaborative effort by Benchmark General Contractors (link back to website), the University of Florida’s School of Architecture and the Florida Community Design Center.
The Best of the Best
We have a brain trust comprised of the best of the best as we plan this community…designers, architects, green building experts, real estate professionals and marketing consultants.
Our unique, groundbreaking lifestyle concept will reduce our footprint on the environment, and we are developing an environmentally sensitive design that could become a model for future coastal communities in our region.

About Sanibel Island, Florida
If you’ve never been to Sanibel Island, imagine an expansive white sand beach, swaying palm trees, lush tropical foliage and clear, blue water. Now imagine living in this tropical paradise in a community that encompasses a natural, energy saving, sustainable environment – the perfect complement to living in this beautiful setting.
From shelling to golfing, excellent cuisine to world-class shopping – Sanibel has it all. Residents enjoy fishing, boating, biking and canoeing all year round where sunshine and warm breezes are the norm.
For those who want to get “off island,” a short drive will take you to Southwest Florida International Airport, downtown Fort Myers, Naples or Fort Myers Beach.
About our Sustainable Community- Sea Glass of Sanibel
Currently in the design stage, this residential enclave will integrate coastal ecologies, social connectivity, permaculture and sustainability as core principles of the neighborhood planning and architectural design.
The community will include specific nature areas, cluster development, a civic green promenade, auto court, butterfly meadow, water harvesting, and an “eco-villa” dedicated to environmental education, just to name a few.
Sea Glass will engage in the best practices of for low impact development ensuring that stormwater strategies, storm resistant designs, building materials and energy efficient design where site resources – breezes, rainwater, solar radiation and natural vegetative systems – are optimized.
And this is only the beginning. At Sea Glass, our goal is to protect and preserve the environment while creating a close-knit community that reminds homeowners of growing up in simpler times.

Who will Live at Sea Glass?
We are looking forward to creating a diverse community where families, retirees and seasonal residents share a common interest in a private, beautiful residential neighborhood dedicated to nature conservation, an affinity for “green” living and the natural beauty of Sanibel Island. Residents will be forward thinking individuals and families who recognize the need to protect and preserve our environment, but realize they do not have to sacrifice comfort, beautiful design or a wonderful lifestyle.
